Equal Opportunities Policy
To ensure compliance with the equal opportunities employment regulations.
HEA intends that all employees will be afforded equal opportunities in the employment context and no discrimination is intended or implied in the terms and conditions of service adopted within the scheme.
The organisation is committed to the development of a clear and well-understood framework supporting the aims, and fully integrating equal opportunities into its culture and practice.
HEA aims to improve the quality of life and enhance the status and influence of older people from the local community. In the course of its work, HEA is mostly involved with organisations or other organisations working with older people, and occasionally with members of the public.
HEA believes that freedom from discrimination and equality of opportunity are fundamental rights and that each person should be valued regardless of age, race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, religion or belief, HIV status, and social class. We recognise that discrimination and victimisation is unacceptable and that it is in the interests of the organisation and its employees to utilise the skills of the workforce. It is the aim of the organisation to ensure that no employee, volunteer or job applicant receives less favourable facilities or treatment (either directly or indirectly) in recruitment, employment or support on grounds of age, disability, gender / gender reassignment, marriage / civil partnership, pregnancy / maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.
HEA will organise all its activities to ensure that diversity is valued and equality of opportunity promoted. It will develop and promote policies, services and actions that will make a real difference in its role as an employer and service provider through its work with its different user organisations and in its involvement with service users, volunteers and trustees.
We will ensure all older people, trustees, volunteers, employees and the public are treated fairly and consistently without discrimination.
